Muitas delas oferecem serviços gratuitos para a sociedade, ajudando assim no desenvolvimento local e na prática de alunos veteranos. Isso tudo supervisionado por um profissional da área. Uma das universidades que se destacam nessa prestação de serviço para a sociedade é a Cruzeiro do Sul. Fundada em 1965 por um grupo de professores, a universidade acredita que a mudança vem da educação. Por isso, além de ter cerca de 90% do seu corpo docente formado por mestres e doutores, ela oferece vários atendimentos a comunidade de São Paulo e região.

Nutrição
Na clínica de nutrição da universidade, pessoas que buscam uma rotina mais saudável e que apresentam patologias como hipertensão, diabetes, colesterol elevado, entre outros distúrbios, podem ter atendimento nutricional. Esses atendimentos são feitos pelos alunos do último ano do curso de Nutrição, sob a supervisão de um nutricionista. Os serviços acontecem na Clínica Escola de Nutrição da Unicid, campus Tatuapé, e no campus Anália Franco, da Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul, das 8h até às 17h. As vagas são preenchidas de acordo com os agendamentos e as inscrições podem ser feitas pelo e-mail ou por telefone.

Fisioterapia
A universidade também oferece um programa de reabilitação para crianças, adolescentes e adultos que apresentam alterações cardiorrespiratórias, como pneumonias, bronquiolites, bronquites, asma entre outras.
Os atendimentos são realizados na Clínica-Escola de Fisioterapia da Instituição do campus São Miguel Paulista, às sextas-feiras para crianças e adolescentes de 0 a 19 anos e às quartas-feiras para adultos acima de 20 anos.
O serviço é gratuito e realizado por alunos do curso de Fisioterapia sob a supervisão das professoras responsáveis pelos estágios da graduação, Ana M. Carr e Sílvia R. Froes. Como as vagas são limitadas, os interessados precisam entrar em contato por e-mail e enviar o encaminhamento médico.

Jornada do Imposto de Renda
Anualmente a Cruzeiro do Sul realiza a Jornada do Imposto de Renda. Essa jornada tem o objetivo de auxiliar a comunidade no preenchimento da Declaração do Imposto de Renda e os atendimentos são realizados pelos alunos do 4º e 5º semestres do curso de Ciências Contábeis, sempre orientados pelos professores do curso. Pode participar da jornada qualquer pessoa física com rendimento anual de até R$ 300.000,00 e que não seja sócia ou proprietária de nenhuma empresa.
Além disso, a Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul tem nota máxima no MEC em vários cursos como Medicina, Biomedicina, Fisioterapia, Gastronomia, Estética e Cosmética e maior número de publicações científicas no ISI Web of Science.
