Entrar na faculdade é uma tarefa difícil para qualquer pessoa. Contudo, em um país socialmente desigual como o Brasil, alguns estudantes possuem desafios extras para poder ingressar no ensino superior.
Pensando nisso, o governo desenvolveu o Sisu, um sistema de cotas para as universidades públicas. Já ouviu falar? Confira este artigo para entender mais!

Como funcionam as cotas do Sisu?
A Lei de Cotas, garante um percentual de vagas do Sisu (Sistema de Seleção Unificada) para alunos que fizeram o ensino médio em escolas públicas. Todas as instituições federais reconhecidas pelo MEC (Ministério da Educação) participantes do Sisu (universidades federais, institutos federais de educação, ciência e tecnologia e centros federais de educação tecnológica) devem reservar vagas para candidatos que cumpram este requisito.
As cotas são uma forma de facilitar a entrada de alguns grupos de estudantes na faculdade. Elas são usadas após a divulgação das notas do resultado do Enem e possuem definidos os requisitos para que, no momento da inscrição, o candidato possa escolher em qual grupo se candidatar.
Como o objetivo é tornar mais justa a entrada desses alunos na graduação, baseando-se em critérios socioeconômicos, eles apenas competem pelas vagas com outros candidatos dentro do mesmo grupo. Ou seja, um determinado número de vagas já é separado para esses grupos. Isso é feito para garantir que haverá estudantes com maiores vulnerabilidades sociais presentes dentro das universidades.
Tipos de cota do Sisu
O Sisu tem três grupos de reserva de vagas, que são conhecidas como cotas. Veja quais são cada uma delas e quais perfis são atendidos pelas reservas.
Cotas para candidatos com baixa renda familiar
A primeira cota do Sisu que podemos citar é restrita para pessoas com renda familiar abaixo de um salário-mínimo e meio que fizeram o ensino médio em escolas públicas. Ou seja, se o candidato consegue comprovar que o rendimento médio de todos os moradores da sua residência é menor que um salário-mínimo e meio por pessoa, ele tem direito a concorrer dentro dessa modalidade.
Cotas para candidatos autodeclarados pretos, pardos ou indígenas
Outro grupo de cotistas são os autodeclarados pretos, pardos ou indígenas. Esse sistema também prevê a discriminação racial como um dos fatores sociais que impede os jovens de atingiram um nível superior de ensino e seguir com suas carreiras.
Para concorrer neste grupo, o candidato deve se autodeclarar preto, pardo ou indígena. Apenas a percepção do candidato sobre sua cor de pele já é suficiente para que ele se enquadre entre os membros dessa categoria.
Contudo, durante os primeiros anos de existência das cotas, aconteciam uma série de problemas, de candidatos brancos que se autodeclaravam com uma cor diferente, para ter a própria entrada facilitada dentro da universidade. Hoje, várias instituições já possuem comitês de regularização que, no ato da matrícula, realizam a checagem das informações, a fim de garantir que essas vagas não sejam preenchidas indevidamente.
Cotas para candidatos que estudaram na rede pública
A cota para estudante de escola pública é uma das mais importantes, visto que a educação pública no Brasil fica em níveis bastante inferiores quando comparada com a educação privada. Assim, os alunos que quiserem participar do Sisu devem, durante o período do ensino médio, terem frequentado escolas públicas durante os três anos.
Isso garante que o nível de conhecimento dos alunos que irão prestar a prova e, consequentemente, participar do processo, seja o mais equilibrado possível, assim como as suas notas no Enem.
Quais são as cotas do Sisu?
Falando em termos quantitativos, as cotas ocupam um número considerável de vagas dentro do total fornecido pelos cursos. Elas são divididas da seguinte maneira:
- 50% das vagas para ampla concorrência
- 50% das vagas para a Lei de Cotas (sendo metade disso, destinado aos alunos de baixa renda)
Com isso, metade das vagas de um curso podem ser ocupadas por qualquer um, independente de critérios socioeconômicos. A outra metade é destinada aos cotistas, sendo que 25% do total de vagas precisa ser para alunos de baixa renda.
Como usar cotas no Sisu?
O primeiro passo para utilizar as cotas no Sisu é entender de quais dos grupos você faz parte. Feito isso, você deve escolher a opção de participar do sistema de seleção concorrendo pelas vagas dos cotistas, dentro do curso que você tem interesse. Ao selecionar, você verá que cada um dos grupos possui notas diferentes.
Geralmente a ampla concorrência possui uma nota maior do que o sistema de cotas, justamente pelos privilégios que os estudantes que não se enquadram como cotistas têm durante os anos de aprendizado. Porém, isso pode variar, pois a concorrência acontece dentro dos inscritos naquela cota. Ou seja, se um grupo de alunos de baixa renda consegue gabaritar o Enem (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio), provavelmente as notas daquelas cotas serão bastante altas.
Assim, durante os dias de inscrição do Sisu, é interessante ficar de olho nas notas de corte, para ver se mudar de um grupo de cotistas para outro, desde que você se enquadre nos critérios, é uma boa ideia que pode te ajudar a conseguir a tão sonhada vaga na universidade!
Como participar do Sisu através do sistema de cotas?
Mas afinal, o que são essas notas que o Sisu leva em consideração? A forma como o programa decide os alunos que serão aprovados para os cursos selecionados é através das notas de corte.
A nota de corte do Sisu é a pontuação mínima que um estudante deve ter para poder ingressar na faculdade. Essa nota é calculada pelo MEC (Ministério da Educação) e recebida com um sistema de pontuação junto ao resultado do Enem. A nota geral para ingressar no curso desejado varia. Cursos como Engenharia e Matemática levam em consideração a nota da prova de Exatas, enquanto Medicina e Odontologia levam a prova de Ciências da Natureza em consideração, por exemplo.
Fazer o acompanhamento diário do avanço das notas do Sisu é fundamental para chegar no objetivo da aprovação! Se o número de inscritos for muito grande ou as notas dos inscritos que se enquadrem nos requisitos forem muito altas, as notas de corte podem aumentar – tanto a ponto de fazer a inscrição pela ampla concorrência ser uma ideia também a ser considerada.
Na lista de espera do Sisu têm cotas?
A lista de espera do Sisu é uma opção quando, durante o processo, o candidato não foi aprovado em nenhuma das duas opções de cursos escolhidas por ele. Se ele tiver sido aprovado na segunda opção, por exemplo, ele não pode participar da lista de espera da primeira opção.
A partir disso, o candidato não entra mais como cotista quando vai para a lista de espera. As notas são calculadas entre membros de um mesmo grupo.
Como a lista de espera é única, todos os nomes dela passam a ter a mesma chance de conseguir a vaga, levando em consideração a nota do Enem.
